Our Advisory Board members are prominent experts and consultants from academia, research and industry who have deep experience in technology sectors relevant to PVP.
Chintay is a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Stanford as well as current Special Advisor and former President of Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). He serves as Science and Technology Advisor of Taiwan's Executive Yuan, Member of Science & Technology Advisory Committee of President's Office and Chairman of the Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Association. Chintay is a Board Director for TSMC and Vanguard Semiconductor. Honored as a Fellow of the IEEE in 1992, he also received the Engineering Medal of the Chinese Institute of Engineering in 1995 and the First Medal of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2003. Chintay served as the President of the Chinese Institute of Engineers between 1998 and 2000 and the Chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association from 1996 to 2000. He holds a PhD degree from Princeton University, an MS degree from Stanford University and a BS degree from National Taiwan University.
David serves as Chairman for eOn Communications, Cortelco and Cidco Communications. David also serves on the boards of ESS Technology, Linear Technology, Accela, Daily Wellness and Pacific International Center for High Technology Research. He is a member of the President's Council on the 21st Century Workforce, appointed by President George W. Bush. Previously, David served as an advisor to both President George H. Bush and President Clinton on the Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiation. David is currently a Regent of the University of California and has advised former Governor Pete Wilson as a member of the California Economic Development Corporation. David holds an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University, as well as an MS in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University.
I.D. spent more than twenty years at UMC Group, most recently serving as its Vice Chairman. I.D. is currently managing his own investment company. He also serves as Vice Chairman for AU Optronics, Taiwan's largest TFT-LCD manufacturer, formed by the merger of Unipac Optoelectronics and Acer Display Technologies. Before AU Optronics, I.D. served as Chairman of numerous technology companies, including Unipac, Harvatek Corp., Dupont Photomasks Taiwan and ACT Technology Corp. Previously, I.D. was an engineer and manager at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). Before ITRI, I.D. led the engineering group at Fine Products, the first transistor manufacturer in Taiwan. I.D. holds both MS and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Chiao-Tung University.
Kenichi has over thirty years of experience in the area of business strategy and was selected by The Economist as one of five top management gurus in the world. Kenichi is the founder and Managing Director of Ohmae & Associates, a leading Japanese consulting practice. Previously, Kenichi spent over twenty-three years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he co-founded the firm’s strategic management practice. In 1997, he joined the UCLA School of Public and Social Research as the Chancellor's Professor of Public Policy. He currently serves on the board of the Center for Advanced Studies for Management of the Wharton School. Kenichi holds a PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering from the MIT, an MS degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology and a BS degree from Waseda University.
Peter has over thirty years of experience in the semiconductor and computer industries, and serves on the board of several high technology companies in both Silicon Valley and Asia. In 1997, he founded the first silicon wafer foundry in China, Central Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (CSMC), and is currently serving as its Chairman. He is also founder and Chairman of Crosslink Technology Partners, a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage semiconductor, healthcare and Internet-related technology ventures. Peter was the initial investor in AboveNet and also served as its Chairman. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of Mosel Corporation, which he led from a startup to a $200 million company. Peter has also held engineering positions with NCR’s Microelectronics Division and with Fairchild Semiconductor. Peter holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a BA degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University.
Bill serves as Chairman of Go Anywhere, a wireless broadband service provider that transmits signals to and from nearby cellular towers instead of using a traditional phone lines. Regarded as a world-class scholar in wireless communications, Bill is renowned for his leading contributions in making analog and CDMA technologies commercially viable. He was Technical Advisor of the FCC and has been elected Fellow of the California Council of Science and Technology. Previously, Bill served as Chairman of LinkAir Communications, a developer of LAS-CDMA, a new technology for wireless communications systems that significantly increases network capacity, improves QoS and expands network coverage. Prior to that, Bill led Pacific Telesis Group’s PCS experimental trials, which led to the first successful CDMA phone call in 1995. Before that, Bill served as Vice President and Chief Scientist for Vodafone Airtouch. He also held research positions at ITT’s Defense Communications Division and at Bell Labs, where he was one of a team of pioneers developing advanced wireless technology (AMPS). Bill holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University and both MSc and BSc degrees from the ROC Naval Academy.
